Daniel Jasa. Artist and Printmaker

My work is about the personal and collective psychological state that results from living in the face of hopelessness and futility. In particular, I’m interested in the sense of inevitable and perhaps deserved destruction at the hands of forces we cannot control.

I illustrate these vast, terrible, and seemingly indomitable forces (both imagined and real) that threaten to tear apart our reality and rob us of all agency, but not our capacity to survive. The figures in these compositions, the only reference to “us” as a people, not only fail to affect change on this cataclysmic reality, they seem unable or incapable of connecting with each other. I wish them luck on their immense journey.
